I gave my website a bit of a makeover recently (go and check it out if you’re reading this in an email), and it made me realise there were a few paintings I had never posted. One of them was this portrait of BBC Radio Sheffield’s Paulette Edwards, which she selected as 3rd place in Sheffield’s 2019 Art in the Gardens celebrity portrait competition.
It was a big surprised to have my painting selected as one of the winners, and I’m really honoured that Paulette liked it (apparently it was her mum’s favourite too!) She said some really nice things about it during the award presentation, which I can’t really remember now (I knew I should have got someone to video it!)
Art in the Gardens 2020 is currently being planned for September, with all submissions being done online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Who knows if it will actually go ahead or not, but if it does, I’ll probably enter the portrait competition again.
Artist Support Pledge
I’m currently taking part in the Artist Support Pledge on Instagram. The idea being that you offer paintings for sale at £200 or less with the hashtag #artistsupportpledge, and any time you make £1000 in sales, you pledge to buy a piece of art from another artist.
You can follow me on Instagram to see when I post new available work, but I also have several painting available for sale already. Anything under £200 that I sell before the end of June (at least) will count towards the Artist Support Pledge. You can find all of my available paintings on my Daily Paintworks page.
