I really enjoyed painting my previous ape study – Snack Time – so I tracked down another great reference photo for this full body pose.

I liked the background on this one, a slightly greenish grey, which just suggests the jungle in the background, and the out-of-focus green leaves framing the picture and providing some context.

It’s a challenge to convincingly paint objects that are out of focus, you have to keep those edges really soft. Something I need to practice more.
