I’ve had a short break recently, as I went to Oslo to attend WordCamp Norway. Had some fun sledging on one of the days, and saw some beautiful scenery that made me want to paint!
Anyway, here’s a couple of studies I was working on before I went:
Trying to keep up some regular still life studies, I painted this small turnip in about 45 minutes, keeping it nice and loose.
I then decided to try my hand at a dark portrait study, but I struggled with the face for hours, before finally cutting my losses. I hope to revisit this one at some point.
To get back into the swing of things I decided to paint this sleeping lion instead, as animal portraits are much more forgiving than human ones!
Time for some more landscapes I think…
